Bruce H. Kaplan, Esq. recently joined the firm as counsel to assist in the areas of affordable housing, community development and litigation. Among the matters he has handled are: a $35 million, 164-unit, 4% LIHTC tax-exempt private activity bond transaction; the bankruptcy reorganization of a single-asset limited partnership by means of the sale of 9% low income housing tax credits to an institutional investor in a $5.5 million transaction; and, the bankruptcy reorganization of a nonprofit community development corporation in connection with a $10 million U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Section 108 Loan Guarantee Program utilizing Community Development Block Grant funds. In addition to being an attorney for over twenty years, Mr. Kaplan has recently overseen the acquisition, zoning analysis, development and completion of a 17,500 square foot mixed-use multi-family condominium project (new construction) at 62 East 1st St., New York, NY, for which he also obtained a 421-a partial tax exemption.
